This coaching client was applying for an internal promotion which would involve working with Regional Directors to lead the development of the business and influencing the spend of the whole of the budget. My client was an extremely intelligent, hard-working, and well-respected member of staff, already operating at a senior level. She was confident in her skills and experience and wanted to be able to project confidence in her ability to lead the business and manage her team.
We worked in three main areas. 1. Self-confidence, in particular addressing her “imposter syndrome”, 2. Self-belief as she set herself impossibly high standards that could be paralysing and provoked anxiety and 3. Resilience in order to better handle frustrations and stress.
After six 1-hour coaching sessions my client achieved the promotion. She fed-back to me that she had made a huge step change in her personal development that was already benefitting the organisation. She said she found the coaching particularly useful in challenging her ‘self-critical’ thoughts, building up her resilience and enabling her to be more confident and courageous in her leadership.
